Mission of the Development Economics Study Program

  1. To provide high-quality education and learning in development economics that is adaptive to global developments and oriented toward policies and issues of national and regional development, grounded in the values of Bela Negara (state defense).
  2. To develop research in the field of development economics that is innovative, applicable, and contributes to public policy formulation as well as sustainable economic development.
  3. To implement community service based on development economics research outcomes to improve societal welfare and support national and regional development.
  4. To develop professional, transparent, accountable, and sustainable study program governance through the utilization of information technology and the strengthening of national and international collaboration networks.

The mission of the Development Economics Study Program is aligned with the mission of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta and the Faculty of Economics and Business through the strengthening of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, focusing on the quality of education, research, and community service that supports national development. This alignment is also reflected in the integration of Bela Negara values, the enhancement of graduate competitiveness, and academic contributions relevant to economic development needs.

The distinctiveness of the program’s mission lies in its focus on the development of data-driven, policy-oriented, and sustainability-based development economics, as well as its responsiveness to regional and national economic issues. The mission also emphasizes the integration of analytical capabilities, innovation in the digital and creative economy, and the internalization of national values within academic practice.

1. To produce graduates who are globally competitive and embody the values of Bela Negara (state defense) through high-quality learning and the advancement of knowledge, technology, science, and humanity.

2. To enhance the quality of research and community service through strengthened collaboration and well-planned, integrated, and sustainable programs

3. To develop good university governance through independent, modern, and sustainable management in the areas of human resources, finance, facilities, and infrastructure, as well as integrated information and communication technology.

2. To strengthen the identity of the Faculty of Economics and Business as a Bela Negara faculty by increasing both the quantity and quality of the internalization of Bela Negara values in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
