Yogyakarta, 20 April 2026 — The Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta, underwent the first day of the LAMEMBA accreditation Field Assessment on Monday, 20 April 2026. The assessment took place in the FEB Seminar Room and SPD-2 Room as part of the Field Assessment series for the Undergraduate Development Economics Study Program of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, scheduled from 19 to 23 April 2026. The assessors assigned by LAMEMBA for this assessment were Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Budiman Hakim, MAgrEcon from the Institut Pertanian Bogor and Prof. Dr. Wirawan Endro Dwi Radianto, M.ScA., Ak., CA from Ciputra University Surabaya.
The first day of the assessment began with an opening session held solemnly and attended by university and faculty leaders. Those present included the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, heads of institutes and technical service units within UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business together with the faculty leadership team. Their presence reflected the institution’s full support for the field assessment process as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic quality, governance, and the competitiveness of the study program.
In accordance with the field assessment agenda, the first day began with the opening session, introduction of the assessor panel, and the reading of the joint commitment statement for the implementation of the assessment. After that, the assessors held discussions with the leaders of the study program management unit to confirm the university’s development policies, governance and management system, as well as the reported achievements and future development plans. The session then continued with a review of the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System, including the effectiveness of the PPEPP cycle, standards documents, manuals, instruments, and periodic reports on quality assurance results. From midday until the afternoon, the agenda continued with the management of the Development Economics Study Program along with the DED and DKPS drafting team for data verification, document clarification, and discussion of various substantive aspects that became the focus of the assessors’ evaluation.
During this in-depth session, the Coordinator of the Development Economics Study Program, Dr. Ardito Bhinadi, S.E., M.Si., presented the study program profile and responded to various questions from the assessors. The presentation emphasized the readiness of the Development Economics Study Program to demonstrate that all assessment indicators were supported by strong, measurable, and relevant evidence in accordance with LAMEMBA standards. The explanation covered aspects of strategic orientation, governance and management, student management, faculty and education staff management, finance and infrastructure, education and teaching, as well as research and community service.
In his presentation, Dr. Ardito Bhinadi explained that the Development Economics Study Program of FEB UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta has a distinctive advantage through the integration of development economics knowledge with the values of State Defense as its institutional character. This integration is not merely normative, but has been systematically implemented in graduate learning outcomes, curriculum, and the learning process. The program’s excellence is further strengthened by the implementation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum integrated with MBKM/Impactful Internships, case- and project-based learning approaches, and a scientific orientation that is responsive to strategic issues in national and regional development.
In terms of achievements, the Development Economics Study Program has shown encouraging progress. The study program profile data indicates an increasing trend in student numbers over the past four years, with student participation in the MBKM program also continuing to grow. In terms of human resources, the faculty structure shows strengthening academic quality, marked by an increase in the proportion of lecturers holding doctoral degrees from 43% to 48%, an increase in the proportion of Associate Professors from 17% to 26%, and Lecturers from 52% to 65%.
In addition, the publication track record of the lecturers was one of the strong points presented during the assessment. Based on the study program profile document, lecturers of the Development Economics Study Program have produced publications in reputable international journals with a composition of 3 Q1 articles, 7 Q2 articles, 4 Q3 articles, and 5 Q4 articles. These achievements further strengthen the position of the study program as one that actively contributes to the development of knowledge and reputable academic publications at both national and international levels.
The first day of this field assessment became an important momentum for the Development Economics Study Program of FEB UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta to demonstrate the quality of its implementation of the three pillars of higher education in a comprehensive manner. The support of university leaders, faculty leaders, institutes, technical service units, and the entire study program management team reflects a shared commitment to maintaining and improving institutional quality. Through this field assessment, the Development Economics Study Program reaffirms its efforts to continue developing as an excellent study program in the development and application of economics to support sustainable development, global competitiveness, and the values of State Defense.
